Get ready, get set, GO!!!

It’s time to get the word out about JESUS! Jesus said, "and you shall be witness to Me in..." I personally believe there 3 basic steps to being an effective witness for Jesus, opening the door for potential conversation. They are “showing”, “listening”, and “sharing”. You may be used by God in any single one or a combination of, at any time so it’s important to be available when the Holy Spirit moves us. The best way to witness to the love and grace of God is to show it. First impressions are essential! People are looking for something better in their lives and they are watching you and me who call ourselves ‘Christians’. Let’s show them by how we behave and conduct ourselves. The old adage, “Children should be seen and not heard” desperately needs to be updated for the Believer to say, “Christians should be seen first and then heard.” In the New Testament, Matthew quoting Jesus puts it this way…

 

 “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven. Matthew 5:14–16 (ESV)

 

People won’t care about anything you say until they believe you care. When your daily living matches up with the expectation of Jesus, people will notice. Try simple things like being polite, saying please and thank you, helping others, and doing random acts of kindness. 

 

Next, listen! Remember, we don’t save people. It’s God’s role to save. We plant seeds and water. Before sharing the Gospel, hear their story.

 

Share! The Holy Spirit will guide you and give you the words you need. If God chooses, He will use you to lead the person in the relationship prayer. If not, know that you have done your part and our Father in heaven will build upon it.

 

“but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect,” 1 Peter 3:15 (ESV)
